10 Years of Freeing the Sound

We are 10. A whole decade, which seems to have flown by. Over the past 10 years, we have pushed wireless technology as far as possible, picked up a few awards and of course had some good times along the way.

Here, we take a look back on our first decade and our key milestones – but first have you met our two anniversary products?

BIRD is a portable wireless speaker with a twist. A fun, intuitive speaker inspired by our own logo (which in itself is inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen story – The Nightingale – did you know that?).

The second anniversary product is very different – TRACK Air+ SE is a Special Edition version of our award-winning TRACK Air+ true wireless earbuds. TRACK Air+ SE have a striking black and gold design and come with all the great features of the TRACK Air+ plus a few tech enhancements.

So, now you have met the latest additions to our family. Let’s take that stroll together back down memory lane.

In 2010 we launched our first ever product – Libratone LIVE. With the speaker came the launch of our trademark FullRoom™ technology – which means the product delivers sound in every direction. It is something that still features in our speakers today and we think makes the party just sound so much better. 

LIVE also allowed us to introduce our colourful and easily recognisable Danish style to the world. The speaker was well received by the consumers and the critics and we won a Plus X Award - the world’s largest award for technology, sports and lifestyle.

In these first few years our focus was on our speakers and we began to define our brand and our place in the industry. For us, Libratone is all about combining cutting-edge audio technology with iconic Danish design to create great wireless experiences.

As our speaker range grew, we also launched our iconic cylindrical speaker – ZIPP CLASSIC.

Our awareness also continues to grow, as does our awards cabinet as we collect several reputable awards – many from the world of design.

Here are just some of the awards that we have won over the last 10 years: Red Dot Design Award, German Design Awards, IF Design Award, International Design Excellence Awards, Good Design, Plus X Award.

This was the year our ZIPP zipped onto shelves. Our next generation of wireless speakers also allows us to introduce multi-room, meaning the parties can only get bigger.

Our GO collection speeds into town. These colourful Bluetooth speakers (TOO and ONE CLICK) are designed to be taken with you wherever you go, they are splash-proof and very robust (did you read about our base-jumping one…)! 

In 2016, we decide we want to get even closer to our consumers and our headphone category is born. Our Q ADAPT headphones (Q ADAPT On-Ear and Q ADAPT In-Ear) come with adjustable noise cancelling, yet another first move from us in the industry. 

We receive recognition from some of the world’s biggest tech giants. For example, we become part of the Made for Google programme - and Huawei’s smart home concept - and our Apple partnership continues to grow.

We launch our third generation wireless speaker – ZIPP 2. An evolution of ZIPP, the smart speaker includes Amazon Alexa integration.

In 2018 we also introduced another award-winning product, the wireless and lightweight TRACK+ earphones, which feature active noise cancelling and are perfect for fitness. With their tangle-free IPX4 sweat and splash-proof design.

Last year we launched our first true wireless earphones with great success. The award-winning TRACK Air+ earbuds were one of the first to come to the market with smart noise cancelling. Their launch, together with TRACK Air has helped to propel us into a new phase of development and the next decade is looking very exciting.
